Villabassa, the Alta Pusteria and the Dolomites invite you to all kinds of walks, Nordic walks and hikes. In the valley you can walk on flat walks, paths across alpine meadows lead to serviced huts and pastures with viewpoints. You don’t have to be an extreme mountain climber to experience the Dolomites!
Cycling & Mountain biking
It’s not all hiking and walking, we have another tip for you: Discover the Three Peaks Country on two wheels; with bicycles and mountain bikes through the Dolomites.
Cycle on the valley cycle path to Rio Pusteria or to Lienz in East Tyrol - and return by train. Stop en route to enjoy the view and relax over a cup of coffee. Cycling fans conquer passes and there are steep climbs for mountain bikers. Whichever way you choose: Cycling and mountain biking in Three Peaks country is stunningly beautiful.
Climbing
Climbing paradise Dolomites: Some of the most beautiful and well-known via ferratas of the Alps await you in Alta Pusteria - Three Peaks Country. Cling to the rockface, pull yourself up and enjoy the unique panoramic views.
The advantage of indoor climbing is that you can enjoy it all year round. The Alta Pusteria boasts indoor two climbing centers.

Winter:
Skiing
Skiing in the Dolomites: From Villabassa you are within comfortable and easy reach of the most beautiful skiing regions of the Dolomites: The skiing region Sesto Dolomites, the Plan de Corones and the skiing region Cortina.
Every 30 minutes the Ski Val Pusteria express train takes you directly to the lower cable car station Versciaco/Monte Elmo and from there directly by cable car up Monte Elmo. From winter 2014/15 Monte Elmo also benefits from direct ski and cable car links to the Croda Rossa. Also every 30 minutes the Ski Val Pusteria express train takes you to Perca-Plan de Corones (Ried) where the cable car to Plan de Corones starts.
Also with the Ski buses (stop near the Hotel) you can arrive to all the skiing areas.
Cross Country Skiing
Villabassa - and Three Peaks Country are Italy’s number 1 cross country ski destinations, with over 200 km of prepared tracks. Enter the broad cross country ski track network in Villabassa and get ready for a very special experience of the Dolomites. The marathon cross country ski track offers you direct cross country ski track connections to the neighbouring villages. Also highly recommended is cross country skiing at lake Lago di Braies, at Prato Piazza, in Val Fiscalina and in the cross country ski stadium Dobbiaco, also a venue for international competitions. The cross country ski track pass Alta Pusteria allows you to use the tracks in Cortina.
Winter hikes & Snowshoe tours
It doesn’t always have to be downhill skiing, cross country skiing or tobogganing. A simple walk in the snowy landscape is good for body and soul. Breathe deeply, enjoy the sun, forget time. On the valley floor on level paths or on sunny slopes. Choose from the many cleared paths in an around Villabassa.
In former times, walking on snowshoes was generally practiced in the mountains as a good way of moving on snow. Several years ago this type of walking was resurrected, this time as a sport and a beautiful experience of nature, in fresh air and stunning landscapes. Accompanied by experienced mountain guides you can discover the most beautiful aspects of winter in the heart of the Dolomites
Ski tour
The Dolomites, virgin snow, stunning views, sunshine and solitude are the ingredients of a ski tour in the South Tyrolean mountains. Like a meditation, each step brings you deeper and deeper into the stillness, brings peace and replenishes your energy levels
